Going for a swan.

The BBC are reporting that the Queen's composer, Sir Peter Maxwell Davies (pictured above), was questioned by Police after they found the corpse of a swan, a protected species, hanging at his home in Orkney. Sir Peter, or Max as he is known locally, claims the Orkneys are exempt from the law protecting swans thanks to an ancient Norse right called Udal law. Max stresses that the swan was killed naturally when it flew into power cables, yet he still cooked a terrine with the meat and intended to give the wings to his local primary school for their nativity play! Max told the beeb that when the police came to his home he:
"offered them coffee and asked them if they would like to try some swan terrine but I think they were rather horrified. That was a mistake, wasn't it?"
Only in the Orkneys!
