The iBook stampede.

A while ago, a school district in Virginia, USA announced that it was selling off it's suite of four-year-old iBooks for $50 (£28) each. Not surprisingly, on the morning of the sale over 12,000 people turned up. When it became clear that demand seriously outstripped supply, a stampede ensued.
