The Doctor has quit.
Christopher Eccleston has quit as The Doctor after only one episode of Doctor Who has been aired. His last appearance will be in a special Christmas episode. Eccleston cited the grueling filming schedule and the fear of being type-cast as reasons for leaving. The BBC have confirmed they are in talks to secure a replacement for the second series which the BBC commissioned after 10 million viewers tuned-in to the first episode. Those actors in the running include Alan Davies, David Tennant (Casanova), Bill Nighy and Richard E. Grant who voiced an online cartoon version of The Doctor.
